We were in Utah

We went to Utah over Memorial Day weekend.  Claire and Eric were going to come to San Jose but because of Eric's foot injury they didn't come so we, fairly last minute, decided to go to them.  Jan and Gregg hosted Greg and me.  Ryan stayed in his old house to be with Callie.  Evan stayed with Eric and Ben.  It all worked out great.

Gregg Wright invited us to the Wright family annual Memorial Day breakfast up Provo Canyon at Vivian Park. It was beautiful.
We had a fun weekend.  We were sad to find out that Sandy and Bruce and Ed and Mary were out of town though :-(

A Graduate

Callie the dog graduated from obedience school last night. According to proud Ryan she was best at puppy pushups, staying and runner up for "leave it". :-)

Putting on the Ritz

Greg and I are in Palm Beach. That's in Florida. I didn't know that at first, I thought it was in S. Cal when Greg first mentioned us going. He is here for a business conference. I am here because he wanted me to join him. So - here we are. Alone together again. It's the Ritz Carlton and it is beautiful. So funny though. The news this morning reported that today is the coldest day of the winter. Got to laugh at that. But it is sunny and in sheltered places it is warm. This is the lobby where I have 1 hour of free internet. Yeah, Ritz doesn't have free internet (well, except for this 1 hour). boo.

Steinhart Aquarium

Did something fun yesterday. I went to California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco. When I was little we would go to San Francisco and visit Golden Gate Park. We'd stop at the Japanese Tea Garden and we'd walk around the area where the museums are - the De Young and the Steinhart Aquarium, the Academy of Sciences. Several years ago they were both remodeled. I've been to the De Young a few times but hadn't had chance to go to the Academy. I was so excited to go. I went with friend Wrendy and her son and his friend. The new academy is nice. There are still some old favorites and probably the bones are all the same but it's lovely and modern. I would like to go again. There is a rainforest in a type of biosphere. There are lots of butterflies and birds flying around. There are also lots of big spiders. All of them are not behind glass. We think they must have escaped when they were babies. You walk up to the top of the canopy on a walkway that spirals up to the top and then ride an elevator down to below the forest to the aquarium - part of which is a big plexiglass tube that lets you walk under/through one of the fish tanks. There's still a planetarium - modernized - looks very cool from the outside. Remember this? The alligator tank! You can look down on it. I have this recollection of being able to walk up to it and it was a tropical display with a bridge of sorts you could walk over. Maybe a different place? Anyway, this tank you can look down on but also view it from ground/water level. They still have the pedulum. The top of the building is covered with a living roof. You can use stairs or an elevator. That's the De Young. Why does it remind me of something out of Star Wars? :-)

Snow Trip

Greg and the boys spent part of last weekend in Island Park snowmobiling with Hardesters guys. There is an extra guy there - Ryan's roommate and San Jose friend Nathan Jackson. Eric was with his uncles. There's also a tired Greg. And if you look very closely you can see a fox in the third picture. They had a great time!

Leaving Vegas

We left Las Vegas today. Greg's conference ended at noon and we flew out at 2:30. On our way to the taxi line, I had chance for a better picture of the bird chair. Nice to have someone with me to take a picture.

You thought I was going to say something about flying out on that bird didn't you? Well, I guess you were right because I just did.

I decided to venture out onto the sidewalk today. Let me just say, I don't know what to say. So I'll just show you pictures. There is art work around the City Center complex where Aria is located. These are by Tony Cragg.

Cool Nascar racer

Part of City Center is a shopping area called "Crystals" (it's where we'd go to catch the tram). It is full of fancy name shops. I hadn't heard of most of them. But of course, I do recognize Gucci.
