And the rain, rain, rain, came down, down, down

Greg was up and at 'em this morning, tackling taxes and then the lawn. Taxes of course - tax day is coming. The lawn - rain was coming. And he did it just in time. He said it started to rain just as he was finishing which was just in time for General Conference to begin.

It's been raining since. I half expect Pooh and Pigglet to go floating by. We are happy for this down pour - San Jose needs the rain.

We're excited for the afternoon Conference session - hoping to see Sister Andrea Busath in the choir!!!

My girl friend forwarded me this link. Give it a try. It's fun - if you're into knowing when to plant lettuce etc. :-)

the real adult

Claire and I grabbed some food at the mall food court. And yes, the Happy Meal is mine. I'm always telling people "Claire is the real adult woman in our home."

Anatevka

Anatevka is the setting for the play "Fiddler on the Roof". And, the play is over. It went well. Claire had a great experience. The young man who played Tevye was incredible. I wish we had some video of him. He's in our ward - we knew he'd be awesome - and he did not disappoint. Claire also was awesome :-)

The show ran for 6 nights and one matinee - two weeks Thurs - Sat. The 2nd week the nights were sold out.

Claire was so tired, and many in the cast ended up sick. But the show went on. Including a switch in the lead female role, Golde. The girl cast for Golde for some reason was only able to participate the 1st week. Another friend from our ward was asked to fill in (they don't have regular understudies) and like the champ she is, the young woman learned the part in a week and practiced in the role once with everyone before her first night in the part. She did great.

This is Claire and Alexa - both played Mommas. Nothing like photoshopping, or whatever it is called, a photo to confuse your posterity. They'll think this is a picture of some great great great...grandmother who is the spitting image of Claire Diane Hardester.

Bouquets to Art

Nancy and I went to San Francisco on Thursday to see the de Young Museum "Bouquets to Art" exhibit.

We had a lovely lunch at the museum cafe.

Coolest mobiles.

Views of the museum.

And here we go - some of the exhibits. These are flower arrangements made to represent art.
If you look close you can see me being a creeper in my own picture :-)

She is made of glass. Two artists/florists entered pieces to represent this small statue.
So different...
...from each other.

And this I believe is my favorite. She is also made of glass.

And she is made of nails and plants.

I believe this is my favorite.

Clever decor by the cafe door.

This I believe is my favorite.

The flowers are gardenias - it smelled divine.

And this I believe is my favorite.

The information tag for these flowers match the flowers to the girl with apple but I think they three go perfect with the three girls in the two paintings so I took them together.

Three faces of George.

This is one of Nancy's favorites. The picture of the painting is not great but it is kind of a hazy picture..

See the "milk" coming out of the milk bottle?

And this I think is my favorite.

This is not a favorite of Nancy and I think it so funky goofy it is awesome :-)

This is a favorite of Nancy (and I like it too).

Cool how a lace pattern is printed on the leaves.

And this...

...inspired this

And this I think is my favorite.

Was a very fun outing.
