What about the Jeep?

The boys took the jeep for a spin! They had to push start it but none the less, they went for a ride around the block - twice.

Fun on New Malones Lake

We had a great little get away, to Angel's Camp near Sonora CA and boated and jet skied on New Malones Lake http://www.usbr.gov/mp/ccao/field_offices/new_melones/images/new_melones_index02.jpg. The water level was very low, but it is still a very deep lake, with lots of space and it is California "Summer dry" beautiful right now, and uncrowded. It really is a great lake. We went with friends, the Wallaces. They brought their boat, and we brought our jet skis. It was an ideal set up. We left late Thursday morning, launched as soon as we arrived at the lake and spent the rest of the day out on the water. We stayed at the Best Western in Angel's Camp. Friday late morning (more like noon) we made it back out to the lake where we spent the remainder of the day cruising around. We couldn't ask for a better time.

Claire and Abby, "Hurray, we're here!"

Just an idea of the area and the bridge - compare it to the link picture.

What to do on a "tube" raft - relax or...

Hold on for dear life!

Just standin' around

Ahhhh, the jet skis - Nate and Evan taking a break.

Way cool!

How about some wake boarding? Ryan looks like a pro.

Wow! He is pro!

Trusty driver Brian - with Ryan and friend Cory on tube.

Hold on Boys!

Ooooooh, Wipe Out!

Way to go Brian!

Ryan's turn to jet ski.

Cory's too.

You go girl! Abby pops up with ease on the wake board.

You have to come down somehow. Ouch.

Claire's up!

She jumped!
and wiped out right away - but didn't get a picture - too bad

Chillin' to some music.

Fun to swim around the boat. Lisa waiting for Sarah to join her in the lake.

Greg taking in the sites.

Evan going for a spin - literally.

Boating can really tire a person.

All revived! Life is good!

Ho Hum

What's the matter with Claire? She was pushed in the pool.
It was a boring evening. It seemed the only thing to do after we went out back to see the big moon - but it wasn't up yet. Pushing her in seemed the next best thing.

Aloha! Ryan's Home

Ryan has arrived home for a short break between Summer term and Fall semester at BYU Hawaii. He'll be here for about 9 days. So - what did Ryan do as soon as we stepped into the house? Any guesses? I'll show you.

First, he took his bags to his room where he quickly picked up a guitar and strummed a few chords.

Then to the piano to play a new song (new to me anyway)

Then back to the bedroom to take the picture of him playing the guitar since I didn't think of recording all of this until after he was at the piano and then while he was playing I thought "I want a picture with Ryan." Look at us in our baseball caps - is it any wonder he wears one all the time?

Then to stand under the fun sign that Claire made for him.
Last off, to McDonald's with his siblings - sorry, no pictures of that.
Welcome Home Ryan!

What's for Breakfast?

Eaz et ay too mah?

Noooo
It's Burnt Monkey Bread!

Emily said that I could do this, so to me it meant it was fool proof. So I guess we all know what that means - It isn't fool proof and I'm a fool - or it is fool proof, but there's still another level of ineptness after fool and that's where you find my name. Even our little 4 year old visitor could tell, "That's burnt!" as I'm looking at it thinking "I wonder if it's OK that dark?"

I guess I shouldn't have gone back to bed after I put it in the oven. Hey, the middle part was good!
