Is it plastic? Maybe someone threw it over the fence. If it's real, maybe a momma bird layed it while she flew by and it happened to land in a nice soft spot. You should incubate it and find out what kind of bird it is and then you can tell it the story of it's laying and then it can tell it's grand children it was the first bird ever layed mid-flight.

It isn't plastic, it's a real egg. Too lazy to take care of it. But the poor bird that laid it, she must have been desperate!
