Becky and Julie are right - it is about costumes for Fiddler on the Roof and it does involve a banshie - a jewish banshie if there is such a thing.
I was measuring out cheesecloth - 42 pieces at 6 foot lengths. All of the cast will drape the cheesecloth over themselves to appear ghost like. The scene is Tevye's Dream: It has already been arranged that his oldest daughter will marry the rich butcher but she is really in love with the poor tailor. She tells her father Tevye her true feelings. Tevye is sympathetic to her and has to figure away to convince his wife that the arranged marriage must not happen and that their daughter must marry the tailor. Tevye pretends to have a dream...
The opening night at Leigh High School is tonight. Claire is so tired from rehearsals I'm not sure she has the energy to be excited. But I bet 5 seconds to curtain call she'll have all the energy and excitement rushing through her she can bear. We are excited to see the play!

Filoli

Ryan, and his girl friend Cara, and I went to Filoli on Friday. It was the start of "Daffodil Daydreams" It was so beautiful.
There is a ballroom. You can see there's a grand piano as well. Who's that playing the piano?
Ryan! It was just sitting there, no one playing. It was calling his name. Ryan asked the Docent in the room if he could play and she said sure - they had expected someone to play that day but the person didn't show up. Lucky us, and everyone else who passed through - we got to listen to Ryan's beautiful music.
It was a great day.

I bought this in the Filoli gift shop. Can you guess what it is?

I haven't used it yet. I do carry it in my purse though. I took it out at the grocery store the other day and quickly put it away. I didn't want to put food in it. :-p I guess it will be my "use at the mall" bag. I haven't been back out shopping anywhere besides a grocery store since way back in Jan. I've still yet to see how that goes, carrying clothes etc out in my own bag.

Why I loved Downton last year
I have to say I did enjoy the Christmas episode, I think mostly because Thomas pulled a crazy stunt and the Dowager Countess had some doozie moments!
but here are great Maggie lines from 1st season - :-)
Also - so funny to have just watched the comedy video with the Ladies Grantham out having tea and making "Carter" go all the way back for more. And then to watch in this "real" one and there they are like a mile away from the house, taking tea. Poor footmen and such, having to haul furniture and food around so Lords and Ladies can dine where ever they want.
What is the period piece where it shows everyone on a picnic and the servants hauling all this furniture up a hill, following the "party" around. Is that in Emma? I know they have their picnic where Emma behaves so badly "Badly done Emma. Badly done indeed" But I feel like there is another one...
This isn't what I was wondering about - it's another something I found on Maggie Smith - this is my last one, I promise - maybe...

Ear Wax
I was going to try to link the ear wax story so you could get the real account. But I realized it would take forever to find it, me having no recollection of when it was posted by the story teller. So I'll do my best to retell it.
Original story teller is Julie Johnson
Sam Johnson is the main character
Setting - Julie, Becky and Sam - headed somewhere in the car
Becky, having the interest in ears she does, was poking around Sam's ear and scolded Julie for the amount of wax she found in his ear. Sam, a little tike at the time, asked his mother why he had wax in his ear. Julie explained the purposes of wax, one being to keep bugs out to which Sam urgently asked that Becky put the wax back in.
(something like that anyway)
